Hi Pamela, I have found a DONALD SKINNER,DOB.8 APR 1730, Cromarty
father Alexander Skinner. mother Ann Clerk, could this be your donald,or have you a confitmed 1726 birth date.
there is also John.dob.29 aug 1727, cromarty.
Alexander. dob. 8 mar 1741, cromarty
Donald dob 17 apr 1744,cromarty. the mothers name is spelled with an A do you think this might be the same family.??the original Donald might have died in infancy, and the latest infant being called Donald in memory, i think this used to happen sometimes

Hi Pamela, It looks as if Cromarty would be the place of Donald's birth as Ian suggests if you are sure he was born 1726 as there are no records in existence before 1727 for Avoch. People were born there of course but there are no records.

Your Alexander Skinner marrying Ann Clerk I don't have any record of, but would be very interested if you any.
Ian now that you have told me there were no records kept before 1727 I am thinking I might not be able to find anything else on my original Donald Skinner b.1726 in Avoch. I have my research from the Scottish Church Records and the reg.no. for Donald is 990578.
Thank you and if you can be of help any more I would be grateful
