Fishing Boats
This was my Grandfather's fishing boat on which my dad learned how to fish. I was taken aboard as a small boy in the 1950's when we visited Avoch from London. A fabulous picture that brings memories flooding back to me.

What's your fathers name? and do you know his byename? Was it Fiddler, by any chance??

Hello Andrew,
His name was Samuel Sutherland Patience (1919-2000) and his byename was 'Sammy Red'.The family lived on the High Street opposite the church, and he was one of 9 children (2 girls, 7 boys)

Hello both Andrew's,Andrew Roberts grandfather & our great grandfather George Patience were brothers,they were called the (ellens)They owned two boats at one time.

Hello,I am Isabel Roper nee Reid. My mother Margaret Patience was the sister of George and Sam, whom I loved as my uncles.Visited the village earlier this year and met up with
cousins.Attended the raising of the standard ceremony on lady hill and was proud when they asked me to raise the standard, a special moment for me.I have been living in Perth w.a. since 1970 . Have come across another photo of fishing vessel Ins270 on the back is written Bouba,s boat ,? Bouba Reid,s Boat was the Renown ins 394,Bouba Patience,s boat was the Pioneer ins98 can you enlighten me at all on this.Delighted to catch up with more of the clan.Regards to you all. Isi Roper.
