Aye Duncan that is indeed Sandy (Tunda). He was great friends with William my first wifes older brother. He also worked part time as barman in the Marine Hotel, Rosemarkie before it became a retirement home - Don

Mark,
That is indeed a picture of your great uncle Sandy. My mother, Lena is your great aunt.If you look on this site under Maclemans, you will see other photos which Duncan uploaded- one of a party in George Street. In it are all your relatives. There is another photo of your great grand mother, Mary Ann, with Mary Ann junior on her knee and Lewis by her side.
My mother, Sandy and another great aunt Lizzie are in another photo on that site, the one of all the Maclemans in Avoch School at the time.

yes we met when your mam and dad were staying with uncle jimmy in Catford. I think your mam was about due to have another baby. Your dad was a milkman then. Both your dad and grandad had dodgy cars that kept breaking down. Uncle jimmy was a crazy driver and if he took a wrong direction he would do U turns on duel carriageways. If I said anything he would say "I am allowed to do this because I fought In the war".

Hi Mark,

Apologies for not getting back to you - I haven't been on this site for a while and I am sorry to have missed you when you were up in Avoch. If you are on Facebook, you can find me easily enough and all my contact details can be given to you....

I worked in the Marine Hotel in 1964/65 and I am sure I remember Sandy the butcher. If it is the same person he was always so pleasant. Was his wife called Janice? My grandparents lived in Rosemarkie till their deaths in the 1960's. Loved visiting them and still return to the area every summer.
