Not a golden wedding! This was taken at a meeting of the Friendly Hour .....a forerunner of the equally excellent Friendship Club currently running in Avoch . The gentleman In the front row on the left was a John Patience who had returned to Avoch after many years tending war graves in France. The gentleman on the right was Simon Patience of Avoch. Both gentlemen were of similar ages, had served during the First World War and were awarded the DSM for services to their country. I don't know what the particular occasion was celebrating but can only surmise that it had something to do with their war service.
